Is it a good deal or a great deal?  

There are lots of good deals on travel these days.  Go on line, and you have seemingly endless access to travel discount websites.  But look closely; when you compare, many of these deals are the same.  Travel pricing is highly regulated, and if you are buying retail, there is not much variance.  No question that if you spend the time, you can find some good deals.  But, if you are a member of a quality vacation club, you can get some great deals because you are not paying retail.  A vacation club gives you access to special pre-negotiated pricing not available to the general public.  Stay in a condo rather than a hotel; go to exotic destinations and have access to a concierge that knows all the secret little details that turn an average vacation experience into a once in a lifetime adventure.  Pricing is just the tip of the iceberg.  A vacation club can give you a complete array of options not even available to the general public.  Condos at private resorts; unique excursions; special attention to details. There can be substantial value in a travel club membership.  

Be a savvy consumer.  If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  For example, special deals on airfare simply do not exist.  If you are being promised by a sales person that you will get extreme discounts on airfare, be skeptical, ask questions.  Also, have the sales person provide real time comparisons, not just on price, but on the quality of the accommodation or amenity. Compare apples to apples rather than simply searching for the lowest price.  

If it makes sense for your lifestyle, JOIN!  But only become a member of a travel club after you check out all the details.  Do you travel on a regular basis?  Do you enjoy staying at extraordinary properties?  Do you want to pay less than the rack rate for the really great stuff?  If you answered yes to any of these, joining a quality travel club may be a smart decision for you.
